2019 Trade press

CARGOTEC CORPORATION, TRADE PRESS RELEASE, 5 DECEMBER 2019 AT 10 AM (EET)

Kalmar, part of Cargotec, has concluded an agreement with Harsco Environmental to supply three Kalmar Super-Heavy Forklifts for use in a specialist steel-slag handling application. The order was booked in Cargotec's 2019 Q3 order intake, with delivery scheduled to take place during Q1 of 2020.

Harsco Environmental is a leading provider of material processing and environmental services to the global steel and metals industries. The company offers onsite mill services and resource recovery services as well as a range of byproducts for industry, construction and agriculture that leverage Harsco’s expertise in mineral materials.

The Kalmar Super-Heavy Forklifts will be a key part of a new logistics process for handling desulphurisation steel slag. Two of the machines will be fitted with a fork rotation system to enable them to transport and empty the skips containing the slag in the processing area, while the third will be used in the steel shop to handle skips.

The Kalmar Super-Heavy Forklift is designed to handle heavy and challenging loads efficiently, effectively and safely without compromising on manoeuvrability or safety. It features the ergonomically designed Kalmar EGO cabin for maximum driver comfort, intuitive operation and superb visibility.

Philippe Bruyere, Regional Engineering Director EMEA, Harsco Environmental: “We have been highly impressed by the technical expertise of the Kalmar team right from the start. We presented them with a challenging proposal and they were able to develop a forklift specification that met our needs exactly.”

Dave Patterson, Vice President, West Europe, Kalmar: “Steel slag handling is a highly demanding process that requires durable and reliable equipment solutions. Our super-heavy forklift solution is trusted by customers around the world in some of the toughest and most highly specialised lifting applications. We are looking forward to building a productive partnership with Harsco Environmental moving forward.”
